Multifaceted artist (singer, pianist, composer, film producer and visual creator) Carmen Lundy is recognised as one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Jazz. For many, she is simply the best Jazz vocalist performing today. Her innovative musicality, stage presence and extraordinarily broad repertoire have won her the admiration of all. To say nothing of the more than two hundred compositions under her belt to date.
Born in Miami, she began her career at a very young age. After graduating in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami, she first worked with musicians such as her brother, Curtis Lundy, and Jaco Pastorius, before moving to New York, where her musical development continued, alongside artists such as Ray Barretto, Kenny Kirkland, Mulgrew Miller, Terri Lyne Carrington, Kip Hanrahan, Robert Glasper, Geri Allen, Bobby Watson or Courtney Pine, among others.
In a recording career that spans five decades, the ?sold out? sign has been placed many times at the entrance to her shows at major venues all over the world, and in recent years she has triumphed at festivals such as Central Avenue, DC Jazz Festival, Detroit Jazz Festival or the London Jazz Festival.
She has also earned the acclaim of critics internationally, with praise from the likes of The New York Times, The Village Voice, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and numerous publications around the world. As a composer, her music has been performed by figures such as Kenny Barron, Ernie Watts or Straight Ahead with Regina Carter.
