In the 1970s few people would believe you if you said there were "presences" in your house that were trying to do you harm. It's not that infernal possessions weren't in vogue (the Warrens were in business from 1952) but that you didn't seem reliable. Why? You were a mother of four children by four different men, and liked to have a beer while talking to the ghostbusters. Your name was Doris Bither, and you suffered domestic violence as a child. You indulged in substances as a youngster. No, you weren't reliable. Nobody believed your story of a "spectral violation". But your case took off. A book was written, Sidney J. Furie directed the film, The Entity (1982), and now this new version is being screened at the Horror Festival. You are played by Heather Graham, who features in the series dedicated to Carrie. We do believe you, sister.
