Of course we are all Julia Ducournau. Of course we are all Coralie Fargeat. And we are all Raw (2016), Titane (2021), Alpha (2025) and The Substance (2024). And quite naturally, Marion Le Corroller is the third member of this exalted, horrific, visceral, daring and dangerous gang. Admitted with full honours. And horrors. Species was premièred in just the right setting, at the Séances de Minuit in Cannes, midnight screenings where anything is possible: new viruses, new diseases, new mutations. To ultimately become The New Eve (which is painful, I warn you). Great angles. Exquisitely chilly production design. Darkness Hospital. Newly arrived resident doctors. Endless shifts. An almost cruel supervisor. Sex. Blood. Burnout, or general practitioner overload syndrome.
