Ghost in the Cell (2026). Indonesia-South Korea. 106 min

A long and glorious life for Indonesian cinema (a student of the Jakarta School won the Nest award at Zinemaldia with his short Erased from the Map). And a long and wonderful existence for Joko Anwar, director of Grave Torture (2024). Huge praise for the Fantastic Fest in Austin, where this film claimed the laurels. We have great hope that the spirit which escaped from a wood ruined by the greed of investors and speculators and ended up embedded in the cells, corridors, exercise yards, canteen and showers of a less than maximum security prison, will return to our screens, because the works of art it creates with the people it squashes are quite something. He, she, it is the most magnificent feature of a horrific, jokey, dancing, combative film where if you want to survive you will need to? farm your aura.
